Build and maintain a per-partner go-to-market strategy document in AltamIQ, covering goals, use cases, value proposition, target industries, competition, pricing, metrics, and objectives, all from one focused view.
Product Strategy is where you capture the go-to-market plan for one partner. Each partner gets a single strategy document that pulls together your goals, the value you bring to market together, who you are selling to, how you stack up against competitors, how you price, and how you will measure success. It is the shared reference your team returns to when planning campaigns, briefing sales, or reviewing how a partnership is progressing.
Every strategy document belongs to exactly one partner. There is one strategy per partner, so what you write here is always tied to that partner and no one else. The same editor appears inside the Partner Profile Strategy tab and on the standalone Product Strategy page, so what you learn here works in both places.
You always reach a Product Strategy from a partner, never on its own.
1
Open a partner
Go to the Partner Directory and find the partner you want to plan for.
2
Open their strategy
Click into the Partner Profile and choose the Strategy tab. The strategy editor loads right inside the profile, so you stay in context without leaving the partner.
3
See only their plan
The view loads the strategy that belongs to that partner and nothing else. Switching from one partner to another refreshes the editor, so you never see or edit the wrong partner’s plan.
If you open the standalone Product Strategy page from an older bookmark or deep link, it works the same way as long as the link carries the partner reference. If the partner reference is missing, you will see a “Partner not found” message with a button back to the Partner Directory.
A single partner's strategy document, with the partner header at the top and its strategy sections laid out as cards below.
A strategy document is made up of eight sections. The first four sit in a two-column grid at the top, and the remaining four run full-width below them. Each section is a free-text area you can fill in with as much or as little detail as you like.
Go-to-Market Goals
Your overall go-to-market plan for this partner. Use it to define target segments and the key objectives you want the partnership to hit.
Unique Value Proposition
What makes this partnership stand out. Capture the key differentiators and the benefits that set this partner and this offering apart.
Key Use Cases
The primary ways customers put the offering to work. List the main customer scenarios and application examples the partnership is built around.
Target Industries
The industries and vertical markets to focus on. Note the sectors you are prioritizing and any sector-specific angle worth remembering.
Competitive Landscape
Your read on the market. Record competitive analysis, market positioning, and the advantages you can lean on.
Pricing Strategy
How the offering is priced. Capture pricing models, packaging options, and any revenue-sharing approach agreed with the partner.
Success Metrics and KPIs
How you will know it is working. Define the key performance indicators, success metrics, and the criteria you will use to measure progress.
Partnership Objectives
The bigger picture. Set out the strategic objectives, the mutual goals, and the long-term vision for the partnership.
Filling in a strategy is simple. You type into the sections you want and save when you are done.
1
Open the strategy for a partner
From the partner’s Strategy tab, the editor loads any existing strategy. If the partner does not have one yet, you start with a set of blank sections.
2
Write in the sections that matter
Type freely into any of the eight sections. You do not have to fill in every field, so you can start with the goals and value proposition and come back to the rest later.
3
Save your work
Click Save Strategy in the top-right. The button shows “Saving…” while it works. If the partner already had a strategy, your changes update it, and if not, a new strategy is created and tied to that partner.
Your edits are not stored until you click Save Strategy. If you move to a different partner or leave the view before saving, unsaved changes are dropped so they can never land on the wrong partner’s document.
The strategy is designed to grow over time. Treat it as a living plan you revisit as the partnership matures, updating the goals, metrics, and competitive notes whenever the situation changes.
