Register, track, and manage co-selling and lead-sharing opportunities in AltamIQ, from first Lead through Closed Won or Closed Lost, including partner links, deal value, MDF, and SPIFF incentives.
Deal Registration is where you log and track the co-selling and lead-sharing opportunities you run with your partners. Each deal captures who the client is, which partner is involved, who owns it, how much it is worth, and where it stands in your sales funnel. As an opportunity progresses you move it through the stages, keep the value and dates current, and record any Marketing Development Funds or sales incentives tied to it. This page walks you through everything the Deal Registration screen can do.
The Deal Registration pipeline with search, filters, and the deal list
Every deal moves through a fixed set of stages that mirror your sales funnel. New deals start at Lead and progress toward one of the two closed outcomes.
Stage
What it means
Lead
A brand new opportunity that has just been registered. This is the default starting point.
Qualified
The lead has been vetted and is worth pursuing.
Proposal
A proposal or quote has been put in front of the client.
Negotiation
You are working through terms, pricing, and details with the client.
Closed Won
The deal was won. An Actual Close Date field appears so you can record the date it closed.
Closed Lost
The deal did not go through. An Actual Close Date field also appears for this stage.
The Actual Close Date field only shows up when a deal is set to Closed Won or Closed Lost. If you move a deal back out of a closed stage, that date is cleared so no stale value is kept.
Registering a deal opens the “Register New Deal” form, which is grouped into three sections: Deal Information, Timeline and Incentives, and Documentation. Fields marked with an asterisk are the ones you will want to fill in first.
1
Open the form
Click the Register Deal button in the top-right of the Deal Registration page. This opens the new deal form.
2
Enter the client and value
Type the Client Name (for example, Acme Corp) and the Deal Value (a number such as 50000). These are the core details of the opportunity.
3
Link the partner
Use the Associated Partner picker to search for and select the partner you are co-selling with. Start typing to filter the list of partners.
4
Set the deal owner
The Deal Owner defaults to you, since you are the one registering it. You can search the picker and pick a different team member if the deal belongs to someone else.
5
Choose the stage and acknowledgement
Pick the Deal Stage (new deals default to Lead) and set the Partner Acknowledgement to Pending, Acknowledged, or Rejected. Acknowledgement starts as Pending.
6
Set the timeline
Confirm the Expected Close Date. On a new deal this is prefilled to about 60 days out, and you can change it to any date. If you choose a closed stage, the Actual Close Date field appears as well.
7
Add incentives (optional)
Enter MDF Funding if Marketing Development Funds are committed to the deal, and a SPIFF Amount if there is a sales incentive for the owner or partner rep. Both are optional.
8
Attach documents and notes (optional)
Paste a Documents URL (such as a shared drive link) and add any Deal Notes with details, next steps, or context.
9
Save the deal
Click Register Deal to save. The new deal appears at the top of the list.
The Register New Deal form with client, partner, owner, value, stage, and incentive fields
The client company the opportunity is for, and the monetary value of the deal. These are the two headline figures shown in the list.
Associated Partner and Deal Owner
The partner tied to the deal and the AltamIQ team member responsible for it. The partner picker and owner picker are both searchable, so you can type to narrow down long lists.
Deal Stage and Partner Acknowledgement
The stage tracks where the deal is in your funnel. Partner Acknowledgement records whether the partner has confirmed the deal: Pending while you wait, Acknowledged once they agree, or Rejected if they decline.
Expected Close Date and Actual Close Date
The Expected Close Date is your forecast for when the deal will close. The Actual Close Date only appears once a deal reaches Closed Won or Closed Lost, letting you record when it actually finished.
MDF Funding
Marketing Development Funds committed by the partner or your team for this deal. This is optional and used to track co-marketing investment behind the opportunity.
SPIFF Amount
A sales incentive amount for the deal owner or partner rep. Also optional, this is useful for tracking bonuses attached to closing the deal.
Documents URL and Deal Notes
A link to related documents (for example, a proposal or shared folder) and a free-text notes field for capturing details, next steps, or anything else worth remembering.
Keeping a deal current is how you track its progress. To update a deal, find it in the list, open the actions menu at the end of its row (the three-dot icon), and choose Edit. This reopens the deal in the same form, now titled “Edit Deal,” with all of its values loaded in.From there you can change any field. The most common edit is moving the deal to its next stage: open the Deal Stage dropdown and pick the new stage. When you move a deal to Closed Won or Closed Lost, the Actual Close Date field appears so you can log the closing date. When you are done, click Update Deal to save your changes.
As a deal progresses, update the Partner Acknowledgement alongside the stage. Moving a deal to Acknowledged as soon as the partner confirms keeps everyone aligned on which opportunities are locked in.
The filter bar at the top of the page helps you focus on the deals you care about. You can combine all three controls at once to narrow the list.
Search
Type into the search box to match by client name or deal owner. The list filters as you type.
Filter by partner
Use the partner dropdown to show only deals tied to a specific partner, or leave it on All Partners.
Filter by stage
Use the stage dropdown to show only deals in a chosen stage: Qualified, Proposal, Negotiation, Closed Won, or Closed Lost. Leave it on All Stages to see everything.
Admins can do everything, including deleting deals. Managers can register and edit deals but cannot delete them. Viewers have read-only access: they can browse, search, and filter, but the Register Deal button and the edit and delete options will not appear for them.
